About
Having been a producer for over 20 years and with several Swedish Grammy nominations and plaques under his belt, there was little question that Lukas Got Lucky would make an incredible addition to Epidemic Sound. This is a versatile and fearless artist who has the discography to prove it. Whether he’s busy cooking up Trap, Afrobeats, Latin, or even House instrumentals, we can always trust that the outcome is going to be straight-up fire and will contain his famous blend of acoustic elements, analog synths, and contagious melodies. Although his artist name suggests that luck has been part of his journey, Lukas Nathanson, the genius behind this moniker, actually owes his success to humility. “I think that being open to opportunities is key in progressing. Never stop working with new people or think that you are above anyone. I had a lot of people who wanted to work with me early on that are now some of the top artists and writers in the world, everyone starts somewhere,” he told Epidemic Sound. The luck part is simply a play on the term “Happy Go Lucky,” which perfectly encapsulates Lukas’ invigorating, humble, and endearing energy. Progression can be talked about in terms of his prolific sound as well. Having started out as a rapper in the days before digital downloads were a thing, and quickly realizing that there weren’t any beats readily available for him to flow over, Lukas decided he was going to make his own. And to his luck (pun intended), his father had music tools for him to experiment on as he too is a songwriter and a drummer. Hijacking his father’s equipment and getting down on it in their home eventually lead to a music publisher signing him as a rapper, but after they took an interest in his productions, Lukas decided to put the rap career to the side and focus on this newfound talent and passion of his. Since the beginning of his career, he’s been through several sonic eras, but the one he always comes back to is Afrobeats. His love of other genres does not go neglected as he happily mixes them together with Afrobeats to see what can come from it, and that fearlessness, creativity, and openness are precisely what makes his genius. Just shortly after his debut with Epidemic Sound in the spring of 2022, he quickly racked up thousands of monthly listeners and his second single (“Lunchbox”) has over 1M streams to date. He is also frequently added to major editorial playlists.
