Which account is the most followed on Facebook?

Who is the most-followed person on Facebook? Turns out it’s Cristiano Ronaldo. Here’s a breakdown of the entire top 10:

  • 1. Cristiano Ronaldo  – Portugal – 171 million followers
  • 2. Samsung – South Korea – 163 million followers
  • 3. Facebook – United States – 157 million followers
  • 4. Mr. Bean – United Kingdom – 140 million followers
  • 5. 5-Minute Crafts – Cyprus – 130 million followers
  • 6. Real Madrid C.F. – Spain – 129 million followers
  • 7. CGTN – China – 125 million followers
  • 8. Shakira – Colombia – 122 million followers
  • 9. Lionel Messi – Argentina – 117 million followers
  • 10. Will Smith – United States – 116 million followers

1. Cristiano Ronaldo  – 171 million followers

Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t only the most-followed Facebook account, but he’s comfortably the most-followed person on the platform, too. It tracks — the Portuguese footballer is also one of the most-followed people on X/Twitter and Instagram.

While Ronaldo doesn’t post as often to Facebook as he does to Instagram or X/Twitter, he uses them in a similar fashion. His Facebook posts cover a healthy spread of personal snaps, training footage, and sponsored content. Ronaldo’s not changed the game on Facebook, and he doesn’t have to — being one of the best footballers in the world is enough.

2. Samsung – 163 million followers

Samsung is the most-followed company on Facebook, despite posting relatively low-engagement content. It’s mostly product-based, covering everything from AI upscaling to competitions and mobile phones.

3. Facebook – 157 million followers

Given that Instagram and TikTok rank among the most-followed accounts on their respective platforms, it’s no surprise that Facebook places third here. It’s one of the oldest accounts on this list, after all.

The official Facebook account mainly posts a cheery blend of status updates, reposted Reels, and nudge-and-wink posts about Meta AI. While Facebook the company strives to be on the cutting edge of technology, Facebook the account is happy to keep it old-school. As a result, this approach could have worked as well in 2010 as it does now.

4. Mr. Bean – 140 million followers

The second-most-followed person on Facebook isn’t even, well, a real person. Rowan Atkinson’s timeless Mr. Bean crashes into our top-10 with the grace and subtlety of a bright-yellow Mini.

The chaotic, charmingly weird character is represented on Facebook by the show’s rights holder, Banijay Rights. There are no candid Q&As, no beanstreams — this is just reposts and memes from one of the strangest shows ever to find an audience.

In that sense, he’s bigger than the TV show and movies. The simple, pure physicality is perfect for reactions and memes, even if you’ve no idea who Rowan Atkinson is. And it clearly works — Mr. Bean commands a larger Facebook audience than Taylor Swift, Harry Potter, McDonald’s, and Eminem.

5. 5-Minute Crafts – 130 million followers

5-Minute Crafts’ place on this list is controversial. The DIY-style content company has come under fire in the past for promoting “fake” hacks, and has also been accused of creating clickbait-style videos.

While its YouTube channel’s value sits in the eye of the viewer, it at least pumps out tons of videos. The same goes for its Instagram account. Facebook, though? That’s another story.

5-Minute Crafts’ Facebook account is filled with links, images, and videos that have little to do with its initial offering. In other words, critics often call it a content farm. Posts about David Beckham, cheating spouses, Cannes Film Festival — one can assume these are paid-for slots, but they don’t 100% gel with the brand’s actual values.

The result is a page that doesn’t feel as well-curated as the rest of this list. Not that it seems to matter much, as the sheer weight of 5-Minute Crafts’ name is enough to entice followers.

6. Real Madrid C.F. – 129 million followers

Sports accounts always do well on social media — WWE is one of the most-viewed YouTube accounts, for example. Real Madrid C.F. is the only account of its kind on this list, posting a mixture of match highlights and classic moments.

7. CGTN – 125 million followers

CGTN is a state-controlled Chinese channel, providing news to global audiences. Given the worldwide interest in China’s affairs, it makes sense that the channel’s Facebook presence is so large.

8. Shakira – 122 million followers

Number eight is Shakira. The Shakira. Aside from going viral when a wild boar stole her bag, the Colombian hit-maker doesn’t really play the game. Most of her content is geared around her music, her live shows, and her family, and that works — she doesn’t need to do anything more.

9. Lionel Messi – 117 million followers

Lionel Messi is the second-most-followed person on Instagram, but number nine here isn’t too shabby. Similar to Ronaldo, Messi’s account features a balance of training footage, sponsored posts, and personal content. He doesn’t post as regularly here as his other socials, and often includes captions in both English and his native Spanish.

10. Will Smith – 116 million followers

There’s no mistaking Will Smith — he’s one of the most famous people in the world. His TikTok blew up off the back of a Fresh Prince trend earlier this year, and he’s been riding that wave ever since. The Oscar-winner’s influence spans across film, TV, and music, making him a natural fit to close out our list.

What do all of these accounts have in common? In a nutshell, they’re all either big-name celebrities or brands. Even Mr. Bean, whose most famous work comes from the 1990s, is a world-famous character.

There’s a lot of competition and not a lot of room for new brands or influencers to squeeze in. Compare that to the most-subscribed and -viewed YouTube channels, which range from national broadcasters and wrestling companies to Swedish gaming influencers and kids’ content.

And that’s fine. Even if you or your brand never hit those Mr. Bean numbers, you can still be successful. Check out our article on how to get more Facebook followers, learn how to monetize the platform, and create content that lasts.
