Social media trends

Another month, another absolutely wild time online. Join Epidemic Sound Sound’s community manager, Madie Hooker, as she breaks down six of the hottest new social media trends of 2025.

1. Kendrick’s jeans flared up

Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl half-time performance was the most-watched in the NFL’s history, and with good reason. The Compton musician’s ongoing beef with Drake, Samuel L. Jackson stepping in as Uncle Sam, Serena Williams showing up for ten seconds — that’s before you even get to the music.

But one thing social media users couldn’t get over was Kendrick’s jeans. His Y2K-style Celine flares didn’t quite steal the show, but they did steal viewers’ hearts. Content creator Newman Parker filmed himself trying the jeans on, sparking a trend of folks doing the same in their local Celine stores. We can’t blame them — they look good.

2. The POV “You woke up” meme took off

The “You woke up” meme started as an AI-generated trend. Users would claim that they “woke up” in unreal situations, like as a viking, a Tudor-era peasant, a plague doctor — you get the idea. The videos were uncanny and weird, but they were fun.

This quickly snowballed into the same logical conclusion as any harmless, internet-based trend: adorable animals. Rather than focus on anything larger-than-life, Smokey and Ripley’s owners/pawrents flipped “You woke up” on its head — what if you woke up as a dog?

3. The “A day in the life” format got a glow-up

“A day in the life” videos and collages are age-old, tried-and-tested crowd-pleasers, but the format has evolved. The newest version involves a group of friends documenting their regular day, spliced into a slideshow.

Each slide shows the group going about their business — it might start at 7 am, then keep going at two-hour intervals until 5 pm. It’s a simple, effective way to create interesting content and highlight the difference between people’s day-to-day lives.

4. “I met my younger self for coffee” descended into chaos

The “I met my younger self for coffee” meme stems from a quite earnest, sweet poem by Jennae Cecelia. Naturally, TikTok took the sentiment of the source material and hilariously derailed it.

5. Jeremy Allen White’s face said it all

This isn’t Jeremy Allen White’s first rodeo. Last year, The Bear’s leading man was the unofficial headliner of Rat Boy Summer, and now his Emmy-winning performance has drummed up another meme. This new slideshow gag is used to show how passionate, weird, and amped-up you might get about your hobbies. Not saying we can relate, but…

6. Hopecore gave people something to smile about

Hopecore started trending last year, and it’s here to stay. These super-positive affirmations are almost too feel-good to be real, and that’s kind of the point. Coupled with exaggerated imagery and swelling music, hopecore can add a much-needed smile to your grid.
